Mystery Mixer – How It Works

Up to 8 players each receive a collectible wine glass marker charm set inside a velveteen drawstring bag. Every charm set contains clues to one independent mystery word or phrase. Players also receive two sealed envelopes, one containing a hint and the other the solution, along with an Investigator Card to record their guesses.

The mystery words and phrases span 17+ categories, and every puzzle is completely independent of the others. All volumes are moderate difficulty.

Each volume includes 8 brand new mystery words/phrases. Keychain and wine glass marker editions are fully compatible and contain the same mysteries by volume, allowing you to mix and match formats. Hosting more than 8 players? Simply add additional copies or purchase different volume numbers to enjoy even more unique mysteries.

Mystery Mixer can be played in two ways:

Passive Play for casual gatherings where guests solve mysteries at their own pace.
Structured Competitive Play with multiple rounds, scoring, and a winner.

Designed for 2 to 8 players, ages 14+, the structured game takes approximately 45 to 90 minutes to play. The keychain edition is suitable for all players ages 14+, while the wine glass marker edition is designed for adult gatherings due to the wine glass markers, though the wine glass charms (25 mm/1-inch in diameter) can also be used on mugs or other handled drinkware.

The game can serve as the main event, an icebreaker before another game, or a fun activity alongside any party. Best of all, every player leaves with a collectible keepsake charm set.

The host's instructions are on a 6 by 9" card with the player instructions on the back - super easy!

🎒 What Each Player Receives

At first glance, the charms may seem completely random.

That's where the mystery begins.

🥂 Option 1: Passive Play

Guests mingle naturally throughout the event, comparing charm sets and sharing theories at their leisure.

Each charm set contains 4 to 8 charms that together provide clues to one mystery word or phrase.

Near the end of the gathering, everyone submits a final guess before opening their Solution envelope to see who cracked their mystery. This is entirely flexible.

This option works especially well when Mystery Mixer is paired with other entertainment or used as a bonus party activity.

🎯 Option 2: Structured Competitive Play

Round 1: First Impressions

Players study their charm sets and make an initial guess.

They also choose a confidence level:

Zero
Mid
Mega

Higher confidence earns more points if correct, but costs more points if wrong.

💬 Mingle Phase

Players circulate around the room to:

Ask others for ideas
Form alliances (optional)
Compare interpretations
Work together...or deliberately throw competitors off track

The strategy is entirely up to the players. Does someone want this game to be their villain origin story? Maybe!

Round 2: The Hint

Players open their Hint envelope to reveal the mystery's category.

Armed with new information, they make another guess and select a confidence level again.

This is where the biggest "Aha!" moments usually happen. But sometimes, they need another round of discussion with others for it to click...so....

🔍 Continue Mingling

Players continue discussing theories, refining guesses, and should try solving other players' mysteries for bonus points.

🏁 Final Round

Players submit their final answers before opening their Solution envelopes.

Everyone reveals their mystery, scores are tallied, and the player with the highest total wins.
